What is Biodiversity or Biological Diversity
Biodiversity or Biological Diversity is
immensely rich in wildlife and cultivated
species, diverse in form and function but
closely integrated in a system through
multiple network of interdependencies.
Forests play a key role in the ecological system how?
Forests play a key role in the ecological system as
forests are a fundamental part of our ecosystem.
Forest contributes to the significant oxygen supply of the planet.
these are the primary producers on which all other living beings depend.
It provides shelter for animals and birds.
Even humans depend on the forest for timber and fuel needs.
Forest helps in cleaning the environment by absorbing toxic gases like carbon.
They help to prevent soil erosion and uphold the fertility of the soil.

India is one of the world’s richest countries in terms of its vast array of biological diversity. Justify this statement.
India is one of the world’s richest countries in terms of its vast array of biological diversity as it has nearly 8% of the total number of species in the world(estimated to be 1.6 million)
At least 10%of India’s recorded wild flora and 20% of its mammals are on the threatened list due to anthropogenic* activities.
*Any human practices which have the capability to affect the surroundings regionally in addition to globally are taken into consideration as Anthropogenic Activities.
The anthropogenic activities include mining, release of industrial waste, smelting of As ore, incineration of fossil fuel etc.
