Where can a forensic psychologist work?
Forensic Mental health unit, universities, police, child protection
What does a forensic psychologist do?
Examines crime scenes, examines motives, research and principals of the criminal justice system
What areas can a forensic psychologist work in?
Criminal profiling, the court room, assessing dangerousness
What is meant but the term mental impairment?
Someone who has a mental disorder or disability can be discounted in court.
What is a psychopath?
Show little remorse, are impulsive, reckless and are antisocial
Pro social?
Behaviour intended to help someone else
What is a mass murderer?
Someone who kills many people in one event or a short period of time.
Genocide?
A mass killing of a specific kind of people e.g Jews
Serial killer?
Someone who has committed 3 or more separate murders in separate locations.
Copycat killing
A crime that is similar to a crime already committed by someone else
Criminal profiling?
An overall portrait of an offender or unsub
Signature behaviour
A repetition of acts that are not necessary to complete the crime.
What is OCD?
Obsessive compulsive disorder, intrusive thoughts that need to be for filled in order to ease fear, anxiety.
In order for new information to be obtained, retained and retreived what stages does it need to go through?
Encoding, storage, retrieve
Stalker types?
Delusional, rejected, intamacy seeking, predatory, incompetent, resentful
