Forearm & Hand Flashcards
Origin and Insertion of brachioradialis
Origin: proximal 2/3 of the lateral supracondylar ridge of humerus
Insertion: styloid process of radius
Actions of the brachioradialis
flex the elbow, assist to pronate and supinate the forearm when the movements are resisted
Origin and Insertion of Anconeus
Origin: lateral epicondyle of the humerus
Insertion: olecranon process and posterior proximal surface of ulna
Action of anconeus
extend the elbow
Origin and Insertion of pronator teres
Origin: common flexor tendon from medial epicondyle and coronoid process of the ulna
Insertion: middle of lateral surface of the radius
Actions of pronator teres
pronate the forearm; assist to flex the elbow
Origin and Insertion of pronator quadratus
Origin: medial, anterior surface of distal ulna
Insertion: ;lateral, anterior surface of distal radius
Action of pronator quadratus
pronate the forearm
Origin and Insertion of supinator
Origin: lateral epicondyle of humerus, radial collateral ligament, annular ligament, and supinator crest of the ulna
Insertion: anterior, lateral surface of proximal 1/3 of radial shaft
Action of supinator
supinate the forearm
