Forearm Flashcards
Radius orientation
lateral/thumb
Ulna orientation
medial/pinky
Elbow Joints
- Hinge joint: ulna w/ humerus
- Ball & socket: radius w/ humerus
Interosseus Membrane
Connective tissue between ulna and radius holding them together/in place, restricting movement.
Surface for forearm muscle attachments
Disperses force from hand (when supinated) equally from radius to ulna
Hand osteology - pollex
thumb
hand osteoology - indicis
fingers
hand osteology - digiti minimi
pinky
Arteries of Forearm
- Brachial A. that splits to radial a. and ulnar a.
Branch from Radial A.
Radial recurrent A.
Branches from Ulnar A.
- Common interosseous A.
- Anterior interosseous A. (ultimately moves posterior)
- Posterior interosseous A.
- Recurrent interosseous A.
Forearm Nerves
- Radial N: posterior innervation
- Median N: lateral innervation
- Ulnar N: medial innervation, NO branches
Median Nerve’s Branch
Anterior interosseous N
Radial Nerve’s Branches
1) superficial radial n.
2) deep radial n: passes the supinator m.
Forearm Compartments
- Flexor Compartment (anterior)
-Extensor Compartment (posterior) - Mobile Wad Compartment (lateral)
Forearm Flexors Orientation
Anterior and medial
Originate from medial side of distal humerus
