Arm and Cubit Flashcards
Valgus Angle
angle of forearm that exists in supination
Flexion of Elbow
Bent/Bending
Extension of Elbow
Arm straight
Posterior compartments of the arm
contains the extensors
Anterior Compartments of the Arm
contains the flexors
Arm superficial veins
Cephalic, Basilic, Medial cubital Vein
Components of arm’s flexor compartments
biceps brachii, brachialis, coracobrachialis
Long Head Bicep Brachii (attachment, innervation, action)
- Attaches at supraglenoid tubercle and radial tuberosity
- Innervation: musculocutaneous n.
- Actions: shoulder and elbow flexion, forearm supination
Short Head Bicep Brachii (attachment, innervation, action)
- Attachment: coracoid process and radial tuberosity
- Innervation: musculocutaneous n.
- Action: shoulder and elbow flexion, forearm supination
Coracobrachialis (attachment, innervation, action)
- attachment: coracoid process w/ short head brachialis
- Innervation: musculoucutaneous n.
- Action: shoulder flexion
Brachialis (attachment, innervation, action)
-Attachment: from humerus across the elbow to ulnar tuberosity
- Innervation: musculocutanous n.
- Actions: elbow flexion - pulling ulna upward
Arm’s Extensor Compartment
Triceps Brachii and Anconeus
Long Head Triceps Brachii (attachment, innervation, action)
- Attachment: infraglenoid tubercle to distal attachment of olecranon
- Innervation: radial n.
- Actions: shoulder and elbow extension
Medial Head Triceps Brachii (attachment, innervation, action)
- Attach: to humerus underneath long head
- Innervation: radial n.
- Actions: shoulder and elbow extension
Anconeus
- Attaches to lateral epicondyle of humerus and olecranon process of the ulna
- Actions: accessory extensor of elbow
