Q

What is the particle theory

A
  • all matter is made up of tiny particles
  • diff. Substances are made of different particles
  • particles are always moving and or vibrating
  • particles move differently in solids, liquids and gasses
  • adding heat makes particles move more or vibrate faster. State of matter changes

Q

What are the 2 different test to check viscosity? Explain.

A

The bubble test - you time how fast the bubble that is in a tube filled with a liquid reaches the top
Ramp test - you time how fast the liquid flows down the ramp

Q

How can particle theory help us explain density?

A

The more dense some thing is the more particles it has. The more tightly packed the particles equals more dense

Q

What is buoyancy

A

A force that allows and helps objects float. It pulls objects towards the sky and the opposing force is the gravitational force.

Q

How does an PFD differ from a life jacket? How do they work?

A

PFDs are meant to help floating face up if you pass out where as a life jacket just helps kids learn to float and swim. They keep you above the water but PFD keep you facing up.
