What is a force?
A push or a pull. They control many things and are used to move any object
What is applied force?
A contact force where a force is applied to an object by a person or by another object
What is normal force?
A contact force that is a support force that is applied to an object that is in contact with another stable object
What is friction force?
A contact force that is when one object exerts on another when they rub together. Opposes the motion of the object.
What is tension?
A contact force that is when a force is transmitted through string/rope/wire when it is pulled tight by forces acting on opposite ends
What is spring force?
A contact force that is when a force is exerted by a compressed or stretched spring upon any object that is attached to it
What is electrical force?
A non contact force that is when force is exerted due to the motion of electrons
What is gravitational force?
A non contact force with which the earth, moon or large objects attracts another object toward itself. Holds planets in orbit around the sun
What is magnetic force?
A non contact force which is the attraction between 2 magnetic objects
What is the unit of force and what are the effects of force?
Newtons (N)
Change in speed, direction and shape
Which way does the arrow go for gravitational force/weight?
Acts on all object so it goes down
What happened way does the arrow go for normal force?
Surface exerts on the object perpendicularly so arrow goes up
Which way does the arrow go for arrow go for applied force?
[pushes or pulls so arrow goes the same way as moving object
Which way does the arrow go for arrow go for friction?
Opposes the motion so arrow goes in the opposite direction
Which way does the arrow go for arrow go for tension?
Applied by rope or string so if object is hanging it goes down but if its pulled goes up
