Forces and Motion Flashcards
What is the equation which links speed, distance and time?
Speed= distance / time
What is a very common unit of speed?
metres per second
What is the equation to calculate average speed?
Average Speed = Total Journey distance ÷ Total time taken
What is the speed of sound in the air?
330m/s
1188 km/h
What is the speed of light in the air?
299,792,458m/s
or 1079252848.8 km/h
Or 300,000,000m/s
What is the equation to find out the time taken?
time taken = distance travelled ÷ speed
How much is 1m into km, cm, and mm
.001km, 100cm, 1000mm
How much is one hour in minutes, seconds, and days?
60 minutes, 3600 seconds, 0.41666 days
What is accuracy?
how close your measurement is to the true/accepted value.
What is precision?
How close your measurements are to each other, having more significant figures makes it more precise.
How do you calculate percentage error?
(our value)-(True value) divided by true value, then x by 100.
What are reaction times?
Normally human reaction time is from 0.2 secs and above.
What does a straight line mean in a distance time graph?
stationary (not gay)
Does the steepness of the line effect the gradient?
yes, the steeper the line the bigger the gradient, and the bigger the gradient, the faster the speed
What does a horizontal line mean in a distance time graph?
zero gradient = zero speed
