Forces Flashcards
Force
A force is a push or a pull.
Compress
Is the force squishing or making smaller or being pressed together on an object.
Friction
It is the resistance to motion on an object.
Reaction/normal force
It is the force which pulls us up and keeps us from being pulled down.
Contact force
Is a force which makes an object make contact with another object.
Reaction force
It is the force which pulls us up and stops us from being pushed down.
Air resistance/drag
Is a force that is caused by the air, it acts in the opposite direction of an object. It drags it back.
Thrust
It is the force which moves an object though the air.
Non contact force
It is a force which doesn’t really come in contact with the object, like friction.
Extension
An object stretching out because of weight
Gravity
It is a force which keeps you on the ground and what makes things fall.
Force diagram
Is a diagram showing all the forces acting on an object.
Elastic limit
It is the maximum an object can be stretched out for without a permanent alteration.
Water resistance
If swimming there is friction between your skin and water particles.
Resultant force
Different forces are added together to make a resultant force.
Interaction pairs
In every interaction, there is a pair of of forces acting on the objects.
Hooke’s Law
Is a law that when an object doubles it elasticity when its weight is doubled it is obeying Hooke’s law.
Streamlined
It is something designed so that the air resistance decreases on that object.
Newtons
Is the unit of force.
Balanced force
Are two forces acting in opposite directions on an object. Their power is equal.
3 affects of forces
3 affects of forces
Deform
A change in an objects due to the application of a force.
Weight
Weight is the gravitational force that pulls an object.
Tension
The molecules in a liquid pull each other. This means they have 0 force.
