Q

What is Speed ?

A

Speed is different from velocity as speed can be measured for bodies not travelling in a straight line.

Q

Fact Card !

A

The gravitational force acting on a particular object is called its weight and this is clearly dependent on, but not the same as the mass of an object.

  • Weight refers to the gravitational force acting on the object
  • Mass refers to the amount of matter that makes upt he object

Q

Newton’s Laws of Motion

A

Law 1 (Law of inertia): The velocity of a body does not change unless a resultant external force acts on it.

Law 2 (Law of acceleration): When a resultant external force acts on a body the rate of change of the body’s momentum is proportional to the force and takes place in the direction of the force.

Law 3 (Law of reaction): In any interaction between two bodies A and B, the force exerted by A on B is equal in magnitude but opposite in direction to the force exerted by B on A.
