forces Flashcards
A push or pull one body exerts on another
Force
An object moving at a constant velocity, keeps moving at that velocity, an abject at rest tends to stay at rest UNLESS ACTED UPON A NET FORCE.
Newton’s 1st law
The tendency of an object to resist any change in motion
Inertia
Combination of all forces that act on an object
Net force
Felt as a pull; every object exerts a force on every other object
Gravity
Amount of matter or stuff an object has(measured in kilograms)
Mass
Measure of force of gravity on an objects mass;how hard an object is pulled toward the center of the earth
Weight
To every action there is an equal(in size) and opposite(in direction) reaction force
Newton’s 3rd law
Mass on the move, stop a moving object
Momentum
Anything that is thrown or shot thrown the air
Projectile
Force acting towards the center of a curved or circular path
Centripetal Force
Opposes motion between two surfaces that are toughing each other
Friction
Resists getting an object moving(Object not moving)
Static Friction
Resist keeping an object from moving(Happens while moving)
Kinetic Friction
Force=mass x acceleration
Newtons 2nd Law
