forces Flashcards
what do we use to musure forces
newton meter
what is the unit of force
N/newtons
what is the other name for the force of gravity
weight
what’s the difference between contact and noncontact force
Contact force occurs due to the contact between two different objects. Non-contact force occurs due to either attraction or repulsion between two objects such that there is no contact between these objects.

balenced and unblaneced
When the forces acting on an object have equal strength and act in opposite directions, they are balanced. These forces cancel out one another, and the motion of the object they are acting on remains unchanged. When the forces acting on an object are unbalanced, they do not cancel out one another.
To have unbalanced forces means that the force applied in one direction is greater than the force applied in the opposite direction. When unbalanced forces are acting on an object, there is a change in speed and/or direction. When you pushed lightly on the bucket in the class demonstration, it did not move.
fill in blank(word at at bottom to help):
■ Two forces are balanced when they are_____ in size but act in ___________ directions.
■When the forces on an object are balanced it will move at _____ speed in one ______ or remain at _____.
■ When the forces on an object are unbalanced it will speed up (________), slow down (_________) or change _________.
Direction, direction, constant, opposite, equal, rest accelerate,decelerate
■ Two forces are balanced when they are equalin size but act in opposite directions.
■When the forces on an object are balanced it will move at constant speed in one_direction or remain at rest.
■ When the forces on an object are unbalanced it will speed up (accelerate), slow down (decelerate) or change direction.

equations:)
force in (N)
speed = distance ÷ time.
distance = speed × time
time = distance ÷ speed.
calculate speed if d=9 and t=3
s=3
calculate time if d=24 and s=6
t=4
calculate distance if t=8 s=4

what is stopping distance
thinking distance + braking time
what is thinking time
distance travelled when driver is reactingt o hazard
