Forces Flashcards
1
Q
What is the responsibility of forces?
A
Forces are responsible for all the interactions between particles and objects.
2
Q
How many types of force?
A
There are two types of forces, contact forces. Non-contact forces.
3
Q
What are contact forces?
A
Forces that act between two objects in opposite directions when they are touching.
4
Q
Examples of contact forces:
A
- Normal contact forces: A box on a table.
- Tension: A cable holding a ceiling lamp.
- Friction: Box sliding on a surface.
- Air resistance: Skydiver falling through the air.
5
Q
What are Non-contact forces?
A
A force push or pull between objects that are not physically touching.
6
Q
Examples of Non-contact forces?
A
- Magnetic force: Opposite poles extract together the same poles repel each other.
- Electric forces: Opposite charges extract together the same charges repel each other.
- Gravitational Forces: Earth.
