Forces Flashcards
Balanced forces is?
If several forces are applied to an object, they may cancel each other out.
If the forces applied to an object are balanced they will have no effect on its motion.
Moving forces..
For example a plane Moves forward = driving force Stays in the air = lift Is really heavy = weight Gets pushed back = drag/air resistance
Unbalanced forces is…
If the forces do not cancel each other out they are unbalanced they will affect its motion.
What’s a stationary object?
If it actually on the ground and not moving
A tree, building, house, human, book.
What does reaction force mean?
Is a force that acts in the opposite direction to an action force.
(Action force) a swimmer moving forward; then gets pushed against the water.
(Reaction force) a swimmer getting pushed by the water and then moves her forward.
What if the force is on water?(what is the arrow called that’s pointing up⬆️)
Upthrust from water
What if the force is on a tree (what’s the arrow called pointing upward?⬆️)
Upward force
When forces are applied to an object they may:
Start the object moving is its a stationary
Stop the object if it was already moving
Speed the object up
Slow the object down
Change the direction it was moving in
Change the shape of the object
What do you measure forces with (unit and tool)
You measure forces in Newton’s (N)
You can measure the size of the force using a Newton meter.
What does the size of the acceleration of an object depend on?
Mass of object and size of force
