Force Be With You Flashcards
Not force
no matter of urgency or consequence; no account; hence, to do no force, to make no account of; not to heed.
Friction
the resistance that one surface or object encounters when moving over another.
Gravity
the force that attracts a body towards the centre of the earth, or towards any other physical body having mass.
Field
an area of open land, especially one planted with crops or pasture, typically bounded by hedges or fences.
Weight
a body’s relative mass or the quantity of matter contained by it, giving rise to a downward force; the heaviness of a person or thing.
Newtons 1st law
Newton’s first law of motion is often stated as. An object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force.
Inertia
a tendency to do nothing or to remain unchanged.
Newton’s second law
Newton’s second law of motion can be formally stated as follows: The acceleration of an object as produced by a net force is directly proportional to the magnitude of the net force, in the same direction as the net force, and inversely proportional to the mass of the object.
Newtons third law
Newton’s third law is: For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. The statement means that in every interaction, there is a pair of forces acting on the two interacting objects. The size of the forces on the first object equals the size of the force on the second object.
Our resistance
In electricity, a measurement of the difficulty encountered by a power source in forcing electric current through an electrical circuit, and hence the amount of power dissipated in the circuit. Resistance is measured in ohms.
Terminal belocity
the constant speed that a freely falling object eventually reaches when the resistance of the medium through which it is falling prevents further acceleration.
Free fall
downward movement under the force of gravity only.
Force
strength or energy as an attribute of physical action or movement.
