Force Flashcards
An influence applied on an object that causes it to change the motion of the object and cause it’s velocity to change
Force
it refers to the strength/size of the force
magnitude
This is the measurement of force
N (Newtons)
this shows where an object is moving
direction
the place/area wherin the force is applied
point of application
is the straight line passing through the point of application and is
parallel to the direction of force.
line of action
forces where objects touch
contact forces
forces where the objects don’t touch.
These forces act over a zone or area called field.
non-contact forces
a force given to a person or object by another person or object. Its
symbol is F depending on who or what applies force to the object.
applied force
is the force acting against or opposite an object in contact with which
makes the movement of the object slow down.
friction force
is the force that acts perpendicular to the surface of the object in
contact with. Its symbol is F N or simply a capital N.
normal force
a force applied to string, rope, chain or cable
tentional force
is the force of attraction between two objects. In the case of objects falling to the ground, and makes satellites and moons orbit the earth
gravitational force
are forces exerted on a field of attraction or repulsion that has 2 poles, north and south pole
magnetic force
is the attractive or repulsive interaction between any two charged
bodies.
electric force
Forces that are equal in magnitude but
opposite in direction are called _______ (?)
balanced force
When balanced forces act on an object at
rest, the object will _____ (?)
not move
These are forces that cause an object to have a change in motion
unbalanced force
this is the sum and calculated force of all forces acting on an object
net force/resultant force
