For Trained athletes Flashcards
Cardiac output
Have a higher stroke volume therefore more blood pumps out at lower heart rate and can work aerobically at a higher intenisity
Ventilation
Have a higher ventilation as they have a higher tidal volume but with the same respiratory rate they can get more oxygen to lungs
Blood pressure
Have a lower blood pressure therefore have healthier arteries
Venous return
Increases to be able to return blood
Motor unit recruitment
Athletes cab deliver responses more rapidly getting more powerful response
Energy substrates
Athletes have the ability to glycogen space
Lactate
Can work at a higher intensity at a higher rate aerobically before LIP spikes
Stroke volume
Have a larger left ventricle resulting in a lower heart rate
Heart rate
Have lower resting heart rate and can return to rest more quickly
