Football competence is adaptation to new football situations Flashcards
What is the role of adaptation in nature?
As the stress levels of an organism increase,
the speed of adaptation to achieve biodiversity
has to increase if it is to find a solution and survive.
What is competence?
A higher level of competence means: being able
to function better in a certain situation.
It is the result of a successful adaptation
to a new situation.
What can we learn from human evolution
regarding competence?
The first thing we can learn from human evolution is that
competence is nothing more than adapting to a new situation.
It means that the football learning process is also the result
of continuous adaptation to new football situations
with ever greater resistance.
What is the overload principle in human evolution?
Once a one-cell organism adapts to a
new situation by increasing its competence,
this more competent organism in turn creates
a new situation for its environment. Its
increased level of competence suddenly
overloads everything and everyone in its environment.
What is the overload principle in
a football context?
A player who successfully adapts to a new
situation will subsequently, with his increased
competence, cause overload on his football
environment. He will force his opponents and
teammates to adapt to his higher speed of action.
How is human evolution similar to street football?
Both are unconscious, inefficient, slow, purposeless,
random, trial and error, bottom-up processes.
How do players and not the exercise
influence the level of overload?
A well-designed training exercise provokes
certain football behavior in players
resulting in overload on other players
around them.
What is the first principle in the FCE model?
Evolution had no foresight so organisms couldn’t
adapt to future situations so adaptation
only took place when reacting to new situations
A new situation demands new actions to
adapt and increase competence.
This overload situation forces someone to adapt
so new demanding situations will overload players
forcing adaptation and are the starting point
for the evolution of footballers.
What is the most determining factor in overload football situations
Footballers overload each other with there action
