01. WHAT IS FOOTBALL Flashcards
What is football?
- Football is a game of action and words.
- The objective is to score more goals than the opponent
- All players try to win. The difference lies in the
importance of the result on each individual
- It is made up of team functions Attacking, Defending, and Transition.
within attacking, there are team tasks building up and scoring.
Within defending the team tasks are disrupting
the build-up and preventing the opponents from scoring.
Transition is the moment the ball is won or lost and teams readjust.
- Communication, decision making, and executing decisions
as frequently as possible in order to play at a higher tempo,
and for as long as possible to maintain a high tempo for 90 mins
Why and what football action language?
- Uniformity in the language used by football coaches
players and specialists prevent miscommunication
during the analysis and coaching of football.
- The action language is only a tool to facilitate an
objective and structured discussion about how
to move the body in relation to its surroundings.
- Football language is used to describe the actions of
players during the game, are made in action language.
What is the action theory?
Action theory describes behavior in the form
of interactions with the environment.
These interactions are called actions
in the football context.
What are verbs used for?
Verbs are used to describe the actions.
They do not say how a football player moves his body but describe
his actions in relation to his surroundings.
(INTERACTION)
The difference between Action versus movement?
When the body interacts with its surroundings,
this is called an action. However, when the body
is moving without interacting with its surrounding, i.e.
bending your knee or stretching your arm, this is called a movement.
What is football theory?
- It is the foundation that makes it possible to talk and discuss football.
- Agreements are made to talk and describe football in a simpler way.
- Talking and reflecting about team organization or specific
tasks per position easier
- Clear language with a clear structure in
the relationship between the game and the training session
What is the primary goal of football training?
- The primary goal of football training is to optimize the cycle,
of communicating-deciding-executing decision
which results in better football action.
- We don’t train the body in isolation from its surroundings.
It is not about working on conditioning the body (isolated)
during training, but the objective is to maintain the ability
to play football for a longer period of time at a higher tempo
(actions per minute!).
