What is a dorsal foot ganglia?
Etiology [3]
A cyst arises from a joint or tendon sheath [1]
May be idiopathic [1] or related to arthritis [1] or underlying tendon pathology [1]
What are the symptoms of a Ganglion cyst? [3]
Pain from shoe pressure +/- the underlying problem
+ a visible cyst
How do we treat a dorsal foot ganglia? [2]
Non-operatively with aspiration or “family Bible” technique
Operatively with surgical excision
What are the subtypes of midfoot arthritis? [2]
- Post-traumatic (OA)
- Rheumatoid
How do we treat midfoot arthritis?
Operative [2]
X-ray guided injection
Operative fusion of the joint
Define Plantar Fibromatosis [2]
When does it become symptomatic [1]
Progressive thickening [1] of the feet’s fascia/connective tissue [1]
Its usually asymptomatic unless very large or on a weight-bearing area [1]
How do you treat plantar fibromatosis?
Non operative [2]
Operative [2]
Non-operative use shoe wear modification and orthotics to avoid pressure
RT and/or Surgical excision
