–Foodborne intoxication:
a toxin is produced in the food. You’ll fall in after 0 to 12 hours. Many cells are needed to produce sufficient toxin. Symptoms include nausea and
vomiting. It lasts usually maximal 1 day
–Foodborne infection:
a microorganism is present in food and there is an invasion in the intestines. You’ll fall ill after 8 to 24 hours. The number of cells to cause infection can be
either low or high. Symptoms include abdominal pain and diarrhoea. It lasts usually minimal 1-3 days.
