The colour change blue to colourless
Test for Starch
Drops of iodine solution on food sample
Colour change from yellow to blue/black

Shake for one minute

May turn dark blue even if nothing is present, control is suggested

Test for Fats
Crush up food, add ethan and shake vigourously to dissolve
Pour (decant) into half a test tube of water
if fat is present, white emulsion is formed
The Emulsion test
