Food safety authority of Ireland (FSAI)
A
- aim to ensure all Irish produced food is safe to eat + of food quality
- provides advice to ministers, food industries and consumers on food safety matters
- enforces food legislation

The FSAI will provide :
A
- improvement notice : issued when the premises will or is likely to pose a risk to safety/ hygiene e.g notice- get 2 sinks one for washing hands only, other for food. The premises can open once the improvement is made.
- closure order! Issued if there is or is likely to be a grave and immediate danger to public health. All or part of the premises must close immediately.

Health service executives (HSE)
A
Implements food safety and hygiene legislation via environmental health officers (EHO’s ) who :
Carry out routine inspections in food establishments
Deal with complaints about suspected food poising cases
Issue improvement notices about closure orders
Educates and advices businesses to ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene laws

- aim to ensure the highest standard of food safety
- promotes all aspects of agri- sector
-it controls food safety in the following areas: meat, milk, eggs, fruit + veg

- the love Irish food logo guarantees that a product uses local ingredients where they are available

A
- ensures high standards of food safety are maintained on behalf of the dept of food, agriculture and marine and fsai
- it does so by inspecting abattoirs to ensure they have high hygiene standards
- monitoring practices in meat processing plants for hygiene and safety

A
- analyse food and water samples for biological and chemical contaminants
- EHO’s send samples
- the public can also pay to send samples to be tested
- ensure foods have a safe amount of additives

European food safety authority
A
- carries out rigorous testing on additives to determine how much can be consumed Daisy without harming the consumer
- if additives pass the test they’re given an E number
