What is ‘me-too’ products?
A copy of an existing commercial food product produced by a compelling manufacture
What is a line extension?
Variations on an existing commercially available food product by changing the product in some way so that it appeals to a wider range of consumers, for example developing a range of new flavours packaging into different-sized units or changing the nutritional qualities
What is quantitative analysis
Involves scientific techniques that can be used to measure features such as size or height, weight, volume, texture, colour, viscosity, shelf life, gel and nutrient content
What is qualitative analysis?
Involves sensory tests that are used to rate and or rank the organoleptic or sensory properties of food such as appearance, aroma, flavour and texture
