the horses strained at his clicking tongue
the sod rolled over without breaking
of the sweating team turned around

A

onomatopoeia draws attention to his power and how much control he has

how much hard work which reflects how strong the father is

Q

I wanted to grow up and plough
all I ever did was follow

A

this half rhyme shows he has finally been able to do what his father has but has not succeeded like he hoped
while the 1st line shows admiration for wat his father does the second line shows a comparison between them as it gives the idea the father is like a shepherd and the son is like a sheep. From that we can infer that that the son would have never been as good and perfect like his father

Q

it is my father who keeps stumbling behind me and will not go away

A

the ending to this poem could suggest that the roles are reversed since there has been a change in time as well as the thought of the father now adding extra weight on to his son
