A ballad sung in Spanish with highly dramatic lyrics, a strong triple rhythm, and a llamada and despedida
Zydeco
Known for its use of the Creole language, a large accordion, a wearable washboard (froittoir), and its multicultural influences.

Why do folk songs exist in many variations?
Because oral versions change over time as each new performer tweaks it to his own preferences
What kind of ballads arose out of the migration of settlers to the West in the mid- to late-1800’s?
Cowboy ballads, Pioneer songs, Railroad ballads
Why were colonial country dance tunes (such as “Money Musk”) so long and repetitive?
So that the same pattern of steps could be repeated until each couple had a chance to be the lead couple

It was an acceptable social activity in which young people could meet, mingle, and impress potential marriage partners

Those are the only notes bugles are easily able to play
