why do we use the zero conditonal?
to talk about things that are always true
what is the structure of the zero conditional?
the present simple is used in both clauses
example zero conditional
if you heat water, it boils
why do we use the first conditional?
to talk about real and possible situarions/open conditions
what is the structure of the first conditional?
if + present simple and will + infinitive -> not important which clause comes first
example first conditional
i’ll go shopping on the way home if i have time
why do we use the second conditional?
to talk about ‘unreal’ or impossible things
what is the structure of the second conditional?
if + past simple and would + infinitive -> not important which clause comes first
example second conditional
if i won a lot of money, i’d buy a big house in norway
