Fold Mountanis Flashcards

1
Q

How are food mountains formed?

A

Folding occurs at destructive plate boundaries. Great pressure turns into extreme heat that softens the layers of rock, making them more bendable. Over millions of years in a very slow process the rocks are pushed up and folded, creating fold mountains. The upward fold are called anticlines and syncilnes. One example of fold mountains are the Himalayans where the Indian and Eurasian plate collide
