Foam Flashcards
What are the 4 low expansion techniques
Gentle applicationRaindownRolling OnOff wall (indirect)
What is the name of the high expansion equipment
The Angus Turbex MKII
What are the three classifications of foam?
Low expansionMedium expansionHigh expansion
What are the ratios of: Low expansion foam Medium expansion foam and High expansion foam
Low expansion foam- between 5:1 and 15:1Medium expansion foam- between 20:1 and 200:1High expansion foam- between 200:1 and 2000:1, usually not more than 1200:1
What is added to an RB101 to use foam
An aspirator attachment
What affects its effectiveness
The condition of the concentrateThe correct mixture of concentrateGood maintenance of equipment Correct pump pressure
When the bypass is closed on the The Angus Turbex MKII, what
7 bar
What bar pressure should the ground monitor be set to
7 bar
What flow rate should the RB101 be set to when using foam
400lpm
What pressure should the RB101 be set to when using foam
6 bar
How many litres per minute are delivered when using the grou
950 with the foam nozzle
What are the three variables when producing foam
1-the volume of air mixed with the volume of solution2- the quantity of foam concentrate added3- the size of bubbles (not low pressure)
What 7 health and safety considerations are to be made when
1- Never apply water to burning liquids2- The branch must be aimed away from the fire until there is a constant supply of foam3- Apply foam to the furthest point of burning liquid4-Ensure there is enough foam to complete a sealing blanket5- surrounding risks must be cooled with covering jets6- Don’t apply water on top of a foam blanket7- Dont walk om, or drag equipment through a blanket
What are the 7 hazards when working with high expamsion foam
1- claustrophobic 2- disorientation3- severeley affected light penetration4- Limited audibility (danger, acme, instructions)5- mini backdrafts from pockets of oxygen 6- reduced transmission of heat making fire more difficult to find7- difficult to spot surrounding damege and signs of building collapse
