Water relay and shuttle Flashcards
What are the types of water relay?
Closed circuit and Open circuit
What is closed circuit water relay?
When water is pumped from one pump to the inlet of the next pump. This is used with light portable pumps
What is an open circuit water relay?
Where water is pumped through hose to portable dame, reservoirs or the appliance pump BEFORE entering the inlet of the next pump in a relay. This is used with appliance pumps
What does the distance between pumps (water relay) depend on?
The flow required. The size(diameter) of hose.Contours of the relay route.
When relaying water in an open circuit, what are the maximum lengths of hose on flat ground and a 10% gradient?
10 lengths flat8 lengths gradient
When relaying water using hose layer hose (90mm) what are the maximum lengths of hose on flat ground and a 10% gradient?
15 lengths flat ground12 lengths 10% gradient
When charging water in an open circuit water relay, how many lights should the pump operators maintain on the water level indicator?
3 lights. This ensures that the autofill valve is open at all times.
How much water is a LPP capable of supplying a closed circuit water relay?
1000 litres per minute at 4 bar pressure.
No LPP should be run without water for more than…………
30 seconds.
