Manual Intercept of RNAV Approach Procedure

A

Use CMD HDG to Intercept Final Apporach Course

Use VS or ALT to intercept Glidepath

  • When within 50nm of Aerodrome:
    • PF: “Activate Approach”
      • PM: “Approach Active, LNAV, ____“
  • When within 90° of final approach track
    • PF: “Arm Intercept”
      • PM: “Intercept Armed
  • At Final approach intercept, check RNAV HDG extinguished:
    • .
      • ​​PM: “Approach Captured”
    • ​​PF: “Checked”
    • PF: Select VNAV Swithchlight
    • PF: “ VNAV Armed”
      • ​PM: “Checked”
  • ​​At Vpath Capture, verify VNAV Annunciation:
    • ​.

    • ​PF: “Checked”

RNAV Approach Limits

A

Maximum Lateral Error (Track):

  • MAP Mode: XTE .15nm (1/2 of Fullscale .3nm inside FF)
  • FULL/ARC Mode: Half Scale

Maximum Vertical Error (Glidepath)

  • Half scale above & below

What does the GPS INTEG annunciation mean?

A

It Means 1 of 2 things:

  • The GPS receiver is receiving signals from less than 5 satelites (RAIM unavailable)
    • GPS not NAV - Availablity
  • The GPS signals sent to the receiver contain errors that cause the GPS certainty of position to be 2 large (Horizonatal Integrity Limits - HIL)
    • Satelite POS Alarm - Accuracy

How many Satelites are required for RAIM?

A
  • 5 Satelites
    • 4 satelites to agree on a position; and
    • the 5th Monitors the integrity by agreeing with the 4

  • The availability of RAIM at our destination must be checked prior to departure by either:
    • NOTAM; or
    • IFIS
