FMS Flashcards
What is FMS?
a computer based flight control system.
What does FMS do?
It reduces pilot workload by
providing automatic navigational radio tuning,
lateral and vertical navigation,
thrust management and
display of flight maps .
The FMS can automatically:
tune the NAV radios and determine LNAV courses.
The Flight management computer (FMC) uses flight-crew entered flight plan information, airplane systems data, and FMC navigation database to calculate:
airplane present position, pitch, roll, and thrust commands required to fly an optimum flight profile.
The FMC sends these commands to the:
auto throttle, autopilot, and flight director.
The Keyboard contains what three types of push button switches:
Alphanumeric
Line Select
Function/Mode
Switches are often called:
Keys
What are the four annunciators which illuminate when the current page is not related to the active flight plan?
DSPY
FAIL
MSG
OFST
What is the automatic FMS phase order?
Preflight
Takeoff
Climb
Cruise
Descent
Approach
Flight Complete
After landing, the flight complete phase does what?
clears the active flight plan and loaded data
The Flight Management Computer (FMC) master switch selects which FMC will control commands for:
autopilot, Autothrottle and radio tuning.
The secondary FMC will then operate in a __________ mode, in the event that the master should fail.
hot-standby
What is used to input preprogrammed navigational parameters known as a Navigation Data Base (NAV Data)?
A data loader
If a placard is not required on the LRU to identify the software, then how is it identified?
it is identified electronically.
What are spare copies of the loadable software supplied on when an airplane is delivered?
digital storage media (normally disks)
The 777 maintenance access terminal (MAT) includes a:
mass storage device as standard equipment.
