C: Splitting the tone. Too large of an opening in the lips
R: Lower chin, blow down. More “oo” needed.

C: Tongue is going between teeth and/or lips.
Example 5B. Flat and corrected.
R: Roll out. Place more lip over hole.
Example #5A. High pitched whistle.
C: Too much air. Air is going across the hole.
R: Blow less hard. Turn head joint in.
A beginning flute student is producing no tone, but you can hear rushing air.
C: Air is going across the hole. Lower lip not on the hole. Corners of lips not pulled together.
R: Blow more into hole. Place more lip over hole. More “whee”.

R: Blow more into the hole. Place more lip over the hole. More “whee”.
A beginning flute student is producing a flat pitch.
R: Cover less hole. Roll out.
