Fluorometry Flashcards
1
Q
Fluorescence
A
Ability to absorb light of high energy, shorter wavelengths and emits it at a lower energy, longer wavelengths
2
Q
Fluorophore
A
A fluorescent chemical compound
3
Q
principle of fluorometry
A
measure concentration of solutions that contain fluorescing molecules
as molecules/ atoms absorb energy , electrons become excited
higher energy levels ( excited electrons)
electrons to ground state & emit light
if emitted wavelength is longer than absorbed for excitation ( excitation wavelength) = fluorescence
