Fluid therapy Flashcards
1
Q
Shock dose (dog and cat)
A
Dog: 80ml/kg
Cat: 65 ml/kg
(give 1/4 dose at a time)
2
Q
KCl added to LRS bag (K normal)
A
20mEq to 1L of fluid
3
Q
Why are crystalloids not best in hypovolemic Patients
A
80% of IV Isotonic crystalloids are absorbed in interstitial space with in 1 hour
4
Q
Rehydration calculation
A
Maintenance
5
Q
CRI calculations (2/2/22)
A
6
Q
When do you need to take ongoing losses into consideration when calculating fluid rates?
A
respiration (pneumonia-panting-> dehydration)
vomiting / diarrhea
*weigh P every 6-8 hrs for wt loss = loss of fluid
PU/PD= 90ml/kg/day (1.5X maintenance)
