Fluid System - Forces, Fluids, and Density Test Flashcards
Define the following word: Hydraulic Pump
A hydraulic pump is a mechanical source of power that converts mechanical power into hydraulic energy. It uses the hydraulic system to perform work, such as lifting heavy loads in excavators or jacks to being used in hydraulic splitters.
Define the following word: Pneumatic pump
Positive displacement pumps that are double-acting with no return springs. They are capable of utilizing many pressurized gases or fluids as drivers.
Answer the following question -
What is a hydraulic system?
A hydraulic system is a function and preforms task through using a fluid that is pressurized.
Answer the following question -
What is a pneumatic system
A pneumatic system is a collection of interconnected components using compressed air to do work for automated equipment
Answer the following question -
What is the Pascal’s law?
If water is contained in a air locked container, by using weight, this can be used to carry another weight up, while the one that has a greater weight goes down.
Answer the following question -
How does pressure relate to depth?
The deeper you go under the sea, the greater the pressure of water pushing down on you. This is because there is more water above your body was you go deeper into the body of water.
Answer the following question -
Compare and give examples of hydraulic and pneumatic system
Pneumatics provide fluid power by means of pressurized air of gases. Hydraulic provides fluid power by means of pressurized liquids, such as oil or water. Examples of a hydraulic system: Bulldozers, backhoes, log splitters, shovels, loaders, forklifts, and cranes. Examples of a pneumatic system: pain sprayers, air blowers, and rock drills.
