Fluid Lines Flashcards
What kind of materials are used today for rigid fluid line
Today rigid fluid lines are made from materials such as aluminum alloy , titanium , and corrosion resistant steel
Explain low pressure systems in rigid tubing
Low pressure systems are below 1000 psi. For ventilating air , pure aluminum is used
Explain medium pressure rigid lines
Medium pressure is 1,000 psi to 1,500 psi. And 5052 aluminum alloy is often used
What does H mean
Strain hardened
Explain high pressure systems rigid tubing
High pressure systems is 3000 psi. And corrosion resistant steel is used.
How is the size of rigid tubing determined?
Rigid tubing size is determined by its outside diameter in increments of 1/16 inch. Therefore a -4 B nut tubing is 4/16 or 1/4 inch in diameter
How do you find the inside diameter in rigid tubing
Subtract twice the wall thickness (printed on the tube ) from the outside diameter.
Example : if you have -8 tube with wall thickness of 0.072
8/16 = 1/2
0.5-(2x0.072) = 0.356
When cutting a new piece of rigid tubing
Cut 10% longer than the tube being replaced , for safety
What is deburring
A finishing process that removes sharp edges , and leaves materials with smooth edges
What tool did you use to cut rigid tubes in class
I used a roller type tube cutter
What materials can be used with a roller type tube cutter
Only materials such as copper, aluminum , or aluminum alloy
How accurate should your rigid line bends be
75 % of the original tube diameter
How do you join rigid tubing together
By using single flare connectors or double flare connectors, flare less connectors , or a house or clamps
What does a flared tube fitting consist of
A flared tube consist of a sleeve and a B nut
What are the two types of flares
Single flare and double flare
