Q

What is the equation used for calculating total body resistance? How can it be used to better understand the affect of ADH and aldosterone on bp?

A

ΔP=Q+R
PA-PV = (SV x HR) R.

ADH/vasopressin: increases resistance due to vasoconstriction which increases the pressure in the arteries (PA). Additionally both ADH and aldosterone increase blood volume and thus stroke volume (SV,) thus increasing resistance and therefore blood pressure.

Q

What is the equation for osmolarity? How do Aldosteron and ADH affect osmolarity?

A

osmoles/volume: Aldosterone affects both osmoles and volume proportionally as it acts to increase blood Na+ and H2O, ADH however only increases blood volume with its activation of aquaporins, and thus decreases osmolarity, while osmoles remain unchanged.
