Flow within cells: Potential energy and kinetic energy Flashcards

1
Q

What is potential energy?

A

energy in the stored form

  • can be released and harnessed to perform work

Q

Elastic energy- mechanical energy movement between macromolecular states

A
  • ATP binds to Myosin to put it in High Energy State (Elastic Energy)
  • Myosin binds too Actin site when exposed- loses ADP AND P- Mechanical energy
  • Myosin Head moves back to lower energy conformation- ‘Mechanical Energy’
