Submandibular Gland
produces saliva; sumpathetic nerve cell bodies
Posterior Belly of the Digastric
depress mandible, elevate the hyoid bone
Anterior Belly of the Digastric
depress mandible, elevate the hyoid bone
Stylohyoid
pulls the hyoid bone up and back; elevation in the base of the tongue, elongation of the floor of the mouth
Mylohyoid
elevate the hyoid bone and oral cavity; depress the mandible
Geniohyoid
draws the hyoid bone up and forward during mastication, assist to open the mandible
Hyoglossus
depress and retract the tongue
Genioglossus
produce the tongue
- if both side working: tongue wil stick out straight
- if one side not working: tongue sticks otu and points to the side of injury
Sternohyoid
depress hyoid aftere elevation during swallowing
Omohyoid
depress, retract, and steady hyoid
sternothyroid
depress hyoid and larynx
thryohyoid
depress hyoid and elevate larynx
submandibular duct
allow passage of saliva from the submandibular gland into the oral cavity
sublingual caruncle
opening of duct from submandibular gland- marking the exit of submandibular gland
sublingual fold
openings where the sublingaul gland wil drain into the floor of the mouth
