  • 1400 WATER BOUSERS put out to provide clean water
  • TEMPORARY DOCTORS SURGERY set up in the council offices which were located on high ground
  • Army and fire brigade were dispatched to protect the electricity supply building
  • RAF called in to air lift people to hospitals
  • Temporary shelters put in place for people who lost their homes

  • Peoples houses were rebuilt
  • A £4 million river barrier was put up along the RIVER SEVERN to prevent flooding in the future
  • Water treatment works were raised to prevent being flooded
  • Put a flood warning system in place that would only make noises if a flood was imminent (definitely going to happen)
