Airbus = +/- 250ft to +/- 750ft
Stall warning module takes inputs from
ADD(AoA vane) Flap and slat position ADC/ADIRS Thrust levers Air ground logic switch - tells the a/c you are on around
TCAS 1 proximate traffic
Solid white or cyan diamond
Within 6nm horizontally and +/- 1200ft vertically or within 6nm and no alt data
TCAS 1 other traffic
Hollow white or cyan diamond
More than 6nm or more than +/- 1200ft
TCAS 1
Only performs traffic advisory
Displayed as a amber/ solid circle when a/c are close by
Provides aural warnings but no escape manoeuvre commands e.g “traffic, traffic”
Crew must visually locate the traffic
Traffic advisory within 28 to 48 secs
TCAS 2

Within 15 to 35 secs of CPA
In order to be visible - must carry mode A, C or S transponder - min C
Discrete data link between the 2 a/c deciphers the best course of action
Resolution advisories
Must be followed
Gives escape commands in the vertical plane
Shown as a red solid square
When is the arrow shown on the a/c
When the vs of the traffic is greater than 500fpm
A/c equipment - TCAS
TCAS computer
2 directional antenna - 1 on top, 1 below
Mode s transponder
Receives data inputs from - radio alt, inhibits RAs close to the ground and the ADC
