Flight Instruments / NAV / AFDS / Warning Systems Flashcards
What things happen at 80 knots on takeoff roll?
1) Master CAUTION light is inhibited until 400 feet AGL or 20 seconds after nose gear strut extension
2) Auto Throttle mode changes to THR HOLD
What flight instruments are lost with a Left IRU?
Captain’s ADI and HSI
F/O’s RDMI
When do multiple autopilots engage?
Below 1500 feet in APP mode
What are the 3 ways to disconnect the auto throttles?
1) Disconnect switch on the throttle
2) A/T ARM switch - OFF
3) Activate thrust reversers
When does the standby engine indicator activate?
1) Failure of both EICAS CRTs (screens)
2) Failure of EICAS system (2 computers)
3) AC power loss
4) Failure of either EICAS CRT with STATUS selected
When will a CONFIG warning activate for takeoff?
Aircraft on the ground and thrust levers advanced for takeoff and:
- Parking brake valve closed
- Spoiler handle not in the DOWN detent
- Stab trim outside the green band
- Flaps or Slats not in takeoff position
When will a CONFIG warning activate in flight?
Any landing gear not down and locked and:
- Aircraft below 800 feet RA and either thrust lever at idle
- Landing flaps selected
Below what altitude is the NO LAND 3 annunciation inhibited?
200 feet RA
When will the IRS ALIGN light flash?
During alignment if:
- the aircraft is moved
- a bad position is entered (1 degree/60 NM)
- no position entered into the FMC after 10 min
What is the normal IRS alignment time?
High latitude alignment time?
Quick alignment time?
10 min - normal
17 min - high latitude
30 sec - quick align
What are the flight instrument indications of a successful IRU alignment?
ADI and headings appear on EFIS/FPDS
What happens with loss of AC power to IRS - ETOPS and non-ETOPS?
ETOPS: left IRU powered by HMG, center and right will have ON DC light illuminated (powered by hot battery bus), after 5 min right IRU will shed
Non-ETOPS: ON DC light across all 3 IRUs (powered by hot battery bus), after 5 min left and center will shed, right will stay on for captain’s RDMI
G/A Mode pitches for what speed?
What thrust does G/A Mode command?
G/A mode pitches for MCP speed or speed at time G/A trigger was pressed (whichever is higher). If airspeed increases above this speed for 5 seconds, G/A pitch will change to the new speed (up to Vref + 25 knots).
G/A mode commands thrust for a 2000 FPM climb rate, if a higher climb rate is desired, push up the throttles to command
