Engine run: Internal engine fire
- Secure both PCLs.
- Secure Ignition Switch.
- Engage affected engine starter until TGT is below 300 degrees C.
Once fire is extinguished:
4. Disengage starter.
If fire persists:
5. Discharge fire extinguisher into affected engine air intake.
External engine fire
- Confirm presence of fire with fireguard
- Secure both PCLs.
- Pull affected Eng fire T handle.
- Fire ext switch to Main and/or reserve
If fire persists:
5. Discharge Portable fire extinguisher.
Starter doesn’t drop out
- Disengage affected engine starter.
If condition persists:
2. Pull affected engine START CONTROL circuit breaker.
If condition persists:
3. Secure APU CONTROL switch.
Rotor Brake Slips
- Secure Both PCLs.
- Maintain Rotor Brake position.
APU Compartment Fire
- Confirm presence of fire with fireguard
- Pull APU Fire T handle
- Fire ext switch to Reserve (Main if required/available)
If fire persists:
4. Discharge Portable fire extinguisher
APU oil temp High Caution light
- Secure APU control switch.
- Complete shutdown procedure
- Check Oil level after 60 minutes
A. If oil level is within limits, restart APU
B. If oil level is low, troubleshoot APU
Fuel Dump Notes
- Fuel dumps at about 800 lbs per minute
- HF should be in manual
- Crew should put out a radio call with intentions.
- set lpcaps to ICS
- ECS to off
- At fuel levels of 300 lbs or less in either main tank (600 lbs total) or the aircraft attitude in excess of 15 degrees nose up or down, engine flameout may occur caused by air entering fuel lines.
Smoke and fume elimination
- Airspeed - 70 KIAS or less
- Cabin door - Open
- Windows and vents - Open
- Yaw aircraft (tail left, nose right)
Cockpit/Cabin fire
- Alert Crew
- Designate crew to fight fire.
- Windows and vents - Closed
- Cabin Door - Closed
- ECS - Off
If Fire continues: - Land immediately
If fire appears out: - Land as soon as practicable
Electrical fire
- Alert crew
- Designate crew to fight fire.
- Affected equipment and associated CBs- Off/Pull
- Windows and vents - closed
- Cabin door - closed
- ECS - Off
If fire persists: - Generators, converters and/or other logical equipment - Off
- Land immediately
If fire appears extinguished: - Land as soon as practicable
Abort Start
- Secure affected ENG PCL
- Secure Ignition switch
- Engage affected engine starter for 30 seconds Starter button.
- Disengage Starter
Emergency Landing
Before landing:
1. Cargo door and windows- open or jettison before landing.
Warning: do not jettison in an auto.
2. Seat full up and aft, facing forward.
3. Shoulder harnesses- locked
4. Legs- forward, out from under seat.
5. Brace for impact- back straight, arms crossed with elbows in, head against headrest.
After landing:
- If time permits, assemble and deploy liferaft and/or survival equipment.
- Egress helicopter when rotor stops.
Emergency egress
- Reference point- locate and remain calm.
- Seas bottle-employ as required.
- Emergency exits- locate emergency release handles, push/pull and jettison
- ICS cord- disconnect
- Reference point- relocate and hold
On land: wait until motion stops (about 5 -8 seconds) - Seat belt harness- release
- Egress- holding reference points, exit at right angles to the aircraft
- Life vest- inflate as required when clear of aircraft.
