Flight Controls Flashcards
What is the flap limiting range?
Begins when flaps extended beyond 22 degrees. Flap limiting will retract flaps to a safe position if airspeed should exceed the safe operating limit.
When does LSAS operate? How much authority does it have?
Available when AP is off, with pitch attitudes from 30 high to 10 low.
Uses 5 degrees of elevator authority, then auto stab trim will trim out the difference
What are the different LSAS functions?
Pitch attitude hold
Pitch attitude limiting (-10 to +30)
High/low speed limiting
Pitch rate dampening
Stall protection
Positive nose lowering (when spoilers begin to deploy)
Pitch attitude protection (blo 100 ft, get nose down pressure if approaching a tail strike attitude)
When is parallel rudder available? What authority does it have?
Available with AP engaged during dual land, single land, go around, and takeoff. Increases rudder authority from 5 to 23 degrees (rudder pedals will move)
What are the indications that parallel rudder is engaged? When will it disengage?
Engaged with AP on and bank limiter at 10 degrees.
Will disengage with a change in roll mode (hdg or NAV) or slats retract.
How many slats are there? Which ones are heated? Which ones are used for ASE?
8 slats, 2 inboard of engine
Outer 5 heated (4-8)
Outer 6 used for ASE (3-8)
What are flap TO and landing range?
TO- 10-25
Landing- 35 or 50
What things will not occur with flaps not in the landing range?
No ATS retard at 50 ft
No AGS deployment until NLG on ground
No autobrakes
What does flap limit override switch do?
If flap limit system fails, flaps may be limited to an undesired position. Flap limit switch tries to override the limiter using channel 1 or 2.
When is elevator feel knob used?
If both channels of elevator feel system fail, manual knob is used to select the feel based on the desired airspeed.
