Flight Controls Flashcards
How will the rotor discs react to a right pedal input?
Forward rotor disk tilts right and after rotor disc tilts left
How will the rotor discs react to a right cyclic input?
Both rotor discs will tilt equally to the right.
How is the collective pitch in the forward and aft rotors affected when the cyclic is moved forward?
Decreases pitch in the forward rotor and increases in the aft rotor
What control movements must be made for a hovering turn about the center hook?
Pedals only
What control movements must be made for a hovering turn about the forward rotor?
Pedal and cyclic in opposite direction
What control movements must be made for a hovering turn about the aft rotor?
Pedal and cyclic same direction
How must the flight controls be positioned prior to removal of hydraulic pressure?
Cyclic and pedals at neutral, thrust at ground detent
Give names for the following abbreviations for flight control components: AFCS, DASH, ILCA, CCDA, LVDT, CPT.
- AFCS: Advanced Flight Control System
- DASH: Differential Airspeed Hold
- ILCA: Integrated Lower Control Actuator
- CCDA: Cockpit Control Driver Actuator
- LVDT: Linear Variable Differential Transducer
- CPT: Control Position Transducer
Which aircraft system causes the extensible link portion of the ILCA’s to make control inputs?
AFCS
What is the minimum allowable forward and aft cyclic stick travel during the controls check?
- Forward: 7” min
- Aft: 4” min
What are the control limitations for ground operations regarding thrust?
Not below ground detent.
What are the control limitations for ground operations regarding lateral cyclic?
1”
What are the control limitations for ground operations regarding aft cyclic?
2”
What are the control limitations for ground operations regarding pedals?
3/4”
Should you enter forecasted moderate or stronger turbulence with an inoperative thrust brake?
No.
What environmental flight condition shall be avoided when the thrust brake is inoperative?
Turbulence.
Which control axes have magnetic brakes that are released when the centering device release switch is pressed?
Pitch, Roll and Yaw
Why is it important to have the left and right pedals adjusted to the same holes prior to engine start?
To not get into droop stop pounding going from Ground to fly
How may forward and aft cyclic travel be affected during the controls check if the aircraft has been parked on a slope?
Longitudinal stick travel may be restricted
What are the functions of the boost portion of the ILCA?
Assists control movement, Prevents control feedback
What is the function of the AFCS extensible link portion of the ILCA?
Provides 100% of the total required control input
How will the forward and aft rotor discs react when the cyclic is moved left?
Rotors tilt equally to the left
What are the two parts of the #1 Pitch ILCA?
Boost section and Extensible Link section
Should you slip the thrust brake during your controls check?
No
