Flight Control Details Flashcards
Aileron Types (4)
Differential - Up goes higher than down goes low. Reduces adverse yaw
Frise - Upgoing aileron projects leading edge into wind, increasing drag, reducing adverse yaw
Coupled Ailerons and Rudder - Rudder deflects to counter adverse yaw
Flaperons - A single control surface is used to provide aileron and flap input. Controls are the same, but only one surface moves (Not 2 separate ailerons/flaps)
Elevator Types
Standard Elevator on rear of horizontal stabilizer
T-Tail Elevator - Elevator in undisturbed air, except for deep stall
Stabilator - One piece horizontal stabilizer that pivots
Anti-Servo Tab - Moves in opposite direction to reduce sensitivity
Servo Tab - Moves in same direction to provide additional control input
Cunard - Horizontal stabilizer located forward of main wing. Provides nose lift up
