Hypothesis

Observation
the action or process of observing something or someone carefully or in order to gain information.
Experiment
a scientific procedure undertaken to make a discovery, test a hypothesis, or demonstrate a known fact.
Data
facts and statistics collected together for reference or analysis.
Conclusion
the end or finish of an event or process.
Theory
a supposition or a system of ideas intended to explain something, especially one based on general principles independent of the thing to be explained.
Law
the system of rules which a particular country or community recognizes as regulating the actions of its members and which it may enforce by the imposition of penalties.
Independent Variable
the variable being controlled in the problem.
Dependent Variable
the variable that changes because of this control.
Controlled Variable (Constant)
All the factors that stay the same in an experiment.
Control Group
used to establish causality by isolating the effect of an independent variable.
Experimental Group
the group in an experiment that receives the variable being tested.
Trial
a test of the performance, qualities, or suitability of someone or something.
Bias
a systematic distortion of a statistical result due to a factor not allowed for in its derivation.
Meter (m)
the SI unit of length or distance.
Placebo
a treatment that appears real, but is designed to have no therapeutic benefit.
