Q

Reserve Chardonnay VS Francesca Chardonnay?

A

Reserve Chardonnay-Well rounded peach flavour, it’s quite creamy on the palate which comes from a malolactic fermentation which is a process that smooths out the sharpness that you can sometimes get with white wines. This makes it less citrus heavy and more rounded in its flavours.

Francesca Chardonnay-Now in comparison the Francesca hasn’t gone through this fermentation. You get those strong citrus notes think lime and nectarines. After the initial citrus punch you also get nutty and woody undertones which comes from the oak barrels they were stored in.

Q

Reserve Syrah 2021 VS Oscar 2022?

A

Reserve Syrah-The reserve has aromas of plums and subtle notes of black pepper and oak. It has firm tannins which makes those flavours stay in your mouth for longer. Awarded a Trophy for Champion Syrah and a Double Gold Medal at the New Zealand International Wine Show

Oscar 2022-The Oscar is is our premium, Flagship Syrah. It has a similar structure to the Reserve but overall more intense. More black pepper, more plums, it even has some notes of liquorice. It’s a richness that would only grow the longer you kept it.

Q

Reserve Merlot blend VS Velvet 2021?

A

Reserve Merlot-Boudreaux style So it’s (40% Merlot) (25% Petit Verdot/Cab Sav)and (10% Malbec). Merlot on it’s own doesn’t haven’t that full bodied structure that it gets from being blended with the other grape varieties so blending them together gives it that grounding of bright berries flavours. It has very plush round berries that give it that long finish.

Velvet 2021-Comparatively the Velvet is a very dark wine that’s because of its 40% cab sav base. So you’re still getting the plums but it’s deeper it’s darker you’re get notes of cocoa. When you smell it you get those intense pepper aromas. We only make the Velvet in our very best years so the year 2020 was a very good season for Mudbrick. This wine can be enjoyed upon release but will benefit from careful ageing in a cellar
