What happens to most fish if they stay out of water for too long?
They die. However, some fish like the snakehead and mudskipper are able to stay out of water for a few hours up to a few days without dying.
What do fish have?
Fins to help them swim and gills to help them breathe.
What do the fins do?
Help the fish to swim.
What do the gills do?
Help the fish to breathe.
What do most fish have?
An outer covering of scales on their bodies, such as the salmon.
Do all fish have scales?
No. Some fish like the catfish do not.
What do most fish have?
Streamlined bodies in order to swim easily in water.
Name some fish that have flattened bodies.
Stingrays and flounder. These fish usually stay at the bottom of the water.
Do all fish lay eggs?
No. Most fish lay eggs, such as the fighting fish and goldfish. However, some fish give birth to their young.
